What Is E-waste
E-waste is the abbreviated term of “Electronic Waste”. E-waste simply means discarded electrical or electronic components. Electronic products that are unwanted, non-functioning and just at the end of their “useful life” are counted as e-waste. Some of the very common e-waste products are mobile phones, computers and laptops, hard drives, fans, DVDs, printers, lamps and many more. As technology changes day by day, many electrical products and electronics are losing their functionality and turning into waste. This e-waste is not at all good for a healthy environment. That is why we need e-waste management and a Proper recycling method for the welfare of our environment.
How important is E-waste Recycling
The usage of electronic equipment has increased exponentially with the growth of the IT and Telecommunication sectors. Consumers tend to discard old electronic products as they are getting upgraded very quickly, which is causing e-waste. Toxic substances Like liquid crystal, lithium, mercury, nickel, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), selenium Etc from e-waste can be very harmful to the environment. So it’s very important to manage and recycle e-waste otherwise it can cause some serious issues like:
- Cause harm to Living Beings and environment
- Increase the demand of raw materials
- Reduce Greenhouse gas emission
- Increases Global warming
